Just found this article while shuffling through morning news during this final week without baseball (games at least - the first official Yankees Spring Training game is next Wednesday at 1pm).

Many of you have probably heard analysts on MLB Network and ESPN (no surprise here) touting the Red Sox rotation as the deepest and best in baseball going into 2010.  They base this on the fact that John Lackey has been added to what was, admittedly, a solid rotation; but depth?  Really?  As it stands now, they have a 4th starter with an ERA in 2009 of 5.75 over 59.1 injury filled innings; and a 5th starter who has thrown less than 200 innings in his major league career.  Not to mention Lackey has not pitched near the 200 inning mark over the last couple seasons due to a nagging back - an injury a lot of experts think may come up again.

So, with that, I leave you to decide, follow the link below and see the argument - I think it's pretty clear that Boston doesn't have the best or deepest rotation in the league, but that they may have one of the  most vulnerable staffs around.

The bottom line is this - Matsuzaka may be suffering from the massive workload he was put through in Japan and that could result in nagging injuries from here on out.  Clay Buchholz is unproven over 100 innings in a season.  John Lackey has had injury issues over the past couple seasons.  Sure, Josh Beckett and Jon Lester will be good (Beckett in a contract year and Lester is, well, Lester is great), but you don't see too many teams going to the playoffs only winning 2 out of every 5 games.
